I'm trying something for the first time in my life--if there is a quote above this, then it worked--if there is some java message and an underlined webpage, then it didn't. I wasn't totally sure of what they wanted me to do when I copied and pasted the link. I just had to guess at where to put it. If it works--great!! If not, I will try it another way the next time.
Meanwhile, I am going to put in an application at another police department on my off day this week. It is closer to home and in my own county. The pay is better as well. (The pay is better EVERYWHERE else!!) It is so totally wrong for a police dispatcher to make less money per hour than the kid who hands them a biscuit at the hamburger joint on the way to work every morning!!! I never would have taken this job to begin with if my unemployment had not run out. With this starting out as part time, and the pay being so low--I began with pay checks that just barely equaled the unemployment I had been getting. Turn over is very high here, so it didn't take long to be full time, and then BEYOND full time!! This week I will have 40 regular hours, 16 overtime hours and 16 hours of holiday pay. Yes, I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas day--12 hours each day!! We had our Christmas on Friday. The only advantage to having a holiday on a regular day is that the stores are all open if you need them and the traffic isn't so bad.
Our Christmas was GREAT--got to see the grand daughter who had been kept away for 2 1/2 years. She has grown up so much!! We have just barely been able to have any contact with her at all in that time. The event which caused us to be put on the poop list by her mom was. . . never mind--that is all water under the bridge now, and all that really matters is that we got to have a great Christmas! All the forces of the universe had to have come together in order for this to have come into existance. We are just SOOOOOO glad that it worked out good.
I had to put most of my art projects on hold for the holidays--partly because there was so much to get made for the holidays and partly because of having to work so many extra hours!! There is so much I want to be able to do RIGHT NOW!! I have too many supplies in too many rooms at home. It would take me several days to get all my supplies sorted through and placed into my craft room upstairs. ----- Then, at the absolute worse possible time, hubby told me last night that he has heard a RAT in my craft room!! He tried bringing the cat in, but the cat ran down the stairs when she heard it. He tried getting the rat terrier to get it, but she ran down the stairs when she heard it. He didn't try to get ChiChi Rodrigues to go after it, cause the rat most likely is bigger than ChiChi!!!
Maybe I should use the 4 sick days I have earned to make some time to 1. locate and kill the rat 2. put the last two sheets of wall board up in the craft room 3. put the big light fixture up over the craft table 4. get all the art supplies upstairs and put away. Then, as I get going at the new job, making the same money in fewer hours and having more time to create--I can just go up the stairs and kick into high gear!!!
Send all the good thoughts you can!!

Good thoughts coming your way! Hope you get a new job; sounds like you need it in so many ways. Do get rid of that rat quickly. They pee and poop and chew up stuff, causing a lot of damage. (Try those ultra-sonic sound things.) At least you have an art room; my creative supplies are stashed everywhere in this house and I have to wait until the stepson moves out so I can get his room. I'm trying to be patient.....
Happy New Year!
Thanks!! Hope you have a great new year, too!! I'm going to try to squeeze in at least 2 sick days within a week to get things going better in the craft room!!
As far as copying the quote itself just highlight it right click it and say copy come to your post and paste it............
I love crafts and what not...........I havent posted my craft room in a while though but there is a post of it in my blog about October 18th of 2007.....
What kind of stuff do you like to do?
Mostly I am into paper crafts right now. I do quilt and sew when I have time for it. Hubby makes wooden items which I enjoy painting and selling. Just last year is when I learned about ATCs and making postcards and envelopes and such. I enjoy doing altered boxes, too. Did a swap a couple of months ago on swap-bot where we were to alter a cigarette box. I got carried away and ended up sending the gal 3 of them and another box that came as an ad thing from Camel which was a larger box with a cardboard large lighter inside it. She loved it!! Used different kinds of textured paints and glazes and some decopauge as well. I also knit and crochet when I am in the mood. What all do you do?
thanks for stopping by
I hope you get the new job, police need to be paid more regardless of where they live.
Durring the winter while I can't be designing gardens or working on my own, I am a scrapbook designer and have been for about 10 yrs. slightly addicted. I too am an undergraduate myself in 'Plant Science'
I don't think I will ever graduate because there are so many classes I like to take between Horticulture and Journalism/media. I day dream that some day no matter how old I am, would like to teach gardening on t.v. and tie in my scrapbook ideas all in one.
Pretty impressive on your police job! I agree that there are a lot of possitions that just aren't being valued enough. I hope you had a great Christmas-although it sounds like you did with your granddaughter and hope that that bond can continue. Happy New Year- Katie'sKrafts
Props to my hubby ( rg-photo.com )
Many good thoughts coming your way! Have a wonderful New Year!!!
Happy New Year...I love to do art and crafts also. I do all kinds...I make little faery bears, foam and paper crafts, jewery making and so on...
Thanks for stopping by. Great that you had time with your granddaughter!
Oh, you're going to love it when get your craft area together. I pulled various supplies, all my art books/magazines (and I have a lot), and computer into one central area in the basement. Like with like. Things placed by what they're used with. Totally organized. Didn't cost much to do it either (I am such a tightwad in a lot of ways). Picked up discarded furniture curbside. Bought some of those plastic drawer units on wheels from Wal-Mart. When I do have energy to do art work, it's now absolutely wonderful to work here.
Altered boxes? Oh, I love such things and am about to get more into them. In fact, I have a shelving unit that contains a number of cheap but nice wooden boxes that I got on sale for a fraction of the cost (Hobby Lobby) some time back and now that I've read the techniques in "Mixed Media Mosaics," by Laurie Mika, I'm getting a lot of ideas about what to do with them finally (polymer and commercial tiles).
I adore fabric arts too...just haven't been doing (I've read more than I've done, so far) as much of that because I'm on an anything bead and polymer clay kick (for several years now). I did design and hand sew some of my art doll's clothes though.
Good luck with that rat! Maybe you can borrow a ferocious mouser? lol When we had mice a few years back, I tried a whole bunch of poisons and traps and still found mouse droppings. Then we adopted an abused stray kitten...no mice since then. Other cat plays with them and then let's then run off.
